METAL POWDERS
Screening for metal powders
Discuss the powder properties, particle fraction and handling requirements as one screening task.
What needs to be separated?
Discuss the powder properties, particle fraction and handling requirements as one screening task.
- Particle classification
- Oversize separation
- Material-specific trial planning
Conditions that affect the selection
Provide particle-size distribution, density, flow and reactivity information. Handling of combustible or reactive powders requires confirmed specialist capability and safety review.
Define contamination and handling limits
State the alloy or metal, particle-size distribution and intended reuse or production stage. Density and morphology can affect handling; oxidation sensitivity, combustibility and contamination limits may create additional constraints. Sample acceptance and any inert-atmosphere or protective configuration must be explicitly agreed before testing or supply.
Choose by the process checkpoint
| Process task | Candidate route | Selection and evidence boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Defined powder-size fractions | Review YB or circular S49 | Contamination from contact components and recovery of every stream |
| Fine powder with diagnosed restricted openings | Evaluate matched ultrasonic assistance | Actual powder compatibility and measurement of screen condition |
| Oxidation-sensitive or reactive feed | Start with safety and atmosphere review | No general promise of inert-gas, explosion-protection or universal sample acceptance |
