MATERIAL APPLICATION
Sugar Screening
Plan sugar screening around crystal/powder form, moisture, lump formation and target grades.
Identify crystal size and product form
Granulated sugar, icing sugar and blended sweeteners need different screening discussions. Explain whether intact crystals are the intended product, whether soft lumps should be dispersed, and how much fine material is acceptable. A nominal mesh count does not describe the whole grading requirement.
Agree the evaluation and its limits
Collect and weigh the relevant size fractions during a trial rather than assessing only the apparent feed rate. Particle breakage, moisture-related caking and product retained in the equipment should be considered when comparing proposed arrangements.
Information for this material enquiry
Prepare the following material-specific information before a configuration is proposed.
- Sugar form and representative particle distribution
- Required grades and limits for fines
- Humidity history and acceptable crystal damage
Shortlist a screening route for this duty
| Material task | Candidate / next decision | Why this boundary matters |
|---|---|---|
| Crystal grading into several products | Review YB or rectangular FYBS/FYB | Accepted size bands, fines limits and measured crystal damage |
| Icing sugar check screening | Compare S49 and appropriate centrifugal arrangement | Moisture, cohesion and permission to disperse soft lumps |
| Persistent mesh restriction | Evaluate cause before assistance | A cleaning device does not remove a moisture-control problem |
Prepare the comparison and sample request
