MATERIAL APPLICATION
Flour Screening
Plan flour screening around ingredient condition, foreign-material targets, aperture and product-changeover requirements.
Define the check point in the flour process
Specify whether screening is before blending, after bulk unloading or before packing. The target may be foreign oversize, compacted flour or a controlled ingredient fraction. Feed surges from bag tipping and a steady conveyor feed create different loading conditions.
Agree the evaluation and its limits
Flour and mixed bakery ingredients may have different allergen and changeover requirements. Consider inspection of screens and seals as well as access to retained product. Combustible-dust assessment and any equipment protection must be specified separately; a standard catalogue screen is not automatically an approved dust-safety system.
Information for this material enquiry
Prepare the following material-specific information before a configuration is proposed.
- Flour or blend composition and feed arrangement
- Oversize rejection objective and agreed aperture
- Cleaning, allergen and dust-control requirements
Shortlist a screening route for this duty
| Material task | Candidate / next decision | Why this boundary matters |
|---|---|---|
| Oversize removal before blending or packing | Compare WSQ centrifugal and S49 circular screening | Feed surges, acceptable soft-lump breakup and screen inspection |
| Controlled ingredient fractions | Review YB for a defined grading duty | State accepted fractions and permissible product loss |
| Cohesion or repeated blocked openings | Diagnose the feed and mesh first | Ultrasound is conditional; dust protection and hygiene require separate review |
Prepare the comparison and sample request
