MATERIAL APPLICATION
Salt Screening
Plan salt screening around crystal size, moisture, lump formation and contact-material compatibility.
Specify salt condition and the duty
Dry crystal grading is different from screening damp salt or treating a salt-containing liquid. State the moisture condition, temperature and whether fines or oversize are rejected. Do not select a material of construction solely because it is described as stainless steel.
Agree the evaluation and its limits
Salt and cleaning media can create corrosion considerations that depend on concentration, temperature and exposure. Request a component-level material review for the actual process. A grade mentioned on a general product page is not a corrosion guarantee for the complete installation.
Information for this material enquiry
Prepare the following material-specific information before a configuration is proposed.
- Dry, damp or liquid-containing salt feed
- Target crystal fractions and moisture information
- Process and cleaning conditions for corrosion review
Shortlist a screening route for this duty
| Material task | Candidate / next decision | Why this boundary matters |
|---|---|---|
| Dry crystal size grades | Compare YB, SZF and rectangular series | Particle distribution, fines and abrasive conditions |
| Damp salt or salt-bearing liquid | Review a separate wet-screening arrangement | Corrosion exposure, viscosity/solids and useful stream |
| Material of construction | Specify contact components and cleaning medium | Neither a stainless label nor 316L alone is a corrosion guarantee |
Prepare the comparison and sample request
